Mimicry
- The close external resemblance of an organism, the mimic, to some different organism, the model, such that the mimic benefits from the mistaken identity, as seeming to be unpalatable or harmful.
-Batesian mimicry is a form of protective mimicry in which an unprotected species closely resembles an unpalatable or harmful species, and therefore is similarly avoided by predators.
-Müllerian mimicry often occurs in groups of unrelated species, all noxious or inedible and all possessing the same conspicuous warning coloration. Such groups, called mimicry rings, often have associated Batesian mimics.
