Bryophyte
- A member of a large group of seedless green plants including the mosses, liverworts, and hornworts. Bryophytes lack xylem and phloem that circulate water and dissolved nutrients; therefore they are non-vascular plants. They generally live on land but are found mostly in moist environments.
- As opposed to vascular plants, the gametophyte generation is the larger plant form, while the sporophyte generation grows on or within the gametophyte and relies on it for nutrition.
