Endotherm
- An organism that is able to maintain a body temperature independent of the environment. Endotherms are capable of surviving at lower external temperatures than ectotherms, but they require more energy from food. Most endotherms are also homeotherms and maintain a fairly constant body temperature. Panting, perspiring and shivering are all ways that an endotherm's body deals with too much or too little heat loss.
