Exoskeleton
- An exoskeleton is a hard structure on the outside of the body that provides protection or support for an organism. The exoskeletons of insects and crustaceans are largely made of chitin, and it is strong and often impervious to water. Having an exoskeleton also means that these animals may have limited growth, depending on the organism.
